A história acompanha Ganta e Isaki, dois adolescentes que sofrem de problemas de insônia e vivem preocupados com os efeitos que isso pode ter em suas saúdes. When Ganta Nakami goes into the observatory, rumored to be haunted, he finds his classmate Isaki Magari sound asleep! They learn they're both struggling with the same problem.
